The Benefits Of Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3, otherwise known as Niacin, is one of the most important a person can have in their diet. However, unfortunately it is also a bit of a catch-22 vitamin, as well. Too much vitamin B3 can have serious side effects on the human body; including, but not limited to, hyperglycemia, coma, and in worse case scenarios, death. On the other hand, there are a great many health benefits to including Niacin as a normal part of your daily diet. If you have any question as to whether or not you are getting enough vitamin B3 in your daily regime, or you think you may have had an adverse reaction, you should consult your doctor immediately. Take It For Your Health Vitamin B3 is a great way to lower your “bad” cholesterol, and many doctors will prescribe it for those who have had trouble lowering their LDL levels. It can also be taken as a metabolism booster in small doses, as it has been shown to raise energy levels by increasing blood sugar levels.

Vitamin B3 is also widely used to help flush toxins from the body. It is because of this that vitamin B3 is often used by misguided individuals who attempt to flush illicit drugs from their system. This rarely works, as these illicit drugs are not directly affected by Niacin. Sadly, this misuse often leads to adverse reactions that can have severe consequences. Health Complications It is important to understand that, although vitamin B3 is an important ingredient for you health, it can also be highly toxic when taken in large doses. Due to the fact that Niacin increases blood sugar levels, too much of it can be highly dangerous to those suffering from diabetes. Even those who do not have diabetes run the risk of developing hyperglycemia if vitamin B3 is taken in high dosages.

Vitamin B3 also flushes toxins from the system, but if taken in inappropriate amounts, can cause liver failure. Many who have adverse reactions to Niacin, report that their initial symptom is skin irritation. This is typically due to the fact that your body is trying to flush the excess Niacin from the body as soon as possible. Other reported complications have included unresponsiveness, coma, and even death. If you think you may need to adjust the levels of vitamin B3 in your system don’t hesitate to contact your physician immediately. Your doctor will help you to determine whether or not you need more vitamin B3 in your system. It is also important to remember that if you are pregnant or nursing, you should be very careful about how much vitamin B3 you consume each day.
