Effective Bioavailability Of Iron In Vitamins

Vitamins and minerals are essential in our health and growth. They aid in the production and maintenance of the rights enzymes, tissues and other components that are necessary to our bodies. There are many ways to acquire and minerals. They are available in animal and plant tissues. One of the easiest ways of acquiring them is to take them in a pill or tablet form. Iron is an essential mineral with the primary purpose of aiding in the production of hemoglobin, myoglobin and other enzymes. Hemoglobin is the primary component of red blood cells while myoglobin is the major protein of cells in the muscles. Many people, especially women, are deficient in iron. How It Works Iron works by aiding in the delivery of oxygen to our muscles through our blood. This is equivalent to delivering energy to our cells. Iron also helps in taking away the carbon dioxide in our cells.

The Bioavailability Of Iron In The bioavailability of iron in vitamin tablets and pills is sometimes questioned because the absorption of iron in the form of pills and tablets is different than in natural sources. The Recommended Daily Allowance of iron is 18 mg. Some pills and tablets exceed this limit which bring to fore the question of the effectiveness of the bioavailability of iron in vitamins. The bioavailability of iron in tablets and pills may also have some side effects on people. If we absorb too much we tend to have an upset stomach or a sour stomach. Many people think that the bioavailability of iron in vitamin tablets should be lessened since we eat some foods containing iron most of our days.

The question of the bioavailability of iron in tablets should also be addressed since pharmaceutical firms and medical practitioners are the ones creating the limits of such things. We should be able to consider that we do get small doses of iron from the food we eat. We also have to consider some conditions in which iron is needed. Pregnancy and anemia are such conditions. These usually occur in women which is why most iron tablets or prescriptions are for them. On the other hand, too much iron can severely affect our health and overall well being. There are disorders which occur when there is too much iron in the body. These disorders include heart disease, cancer and diabetes among others. Too much iron often manifests itself in men.
